    Evening at the Pops

The Orange Community Band is preparing for its 30th Annual Evening at the Pops concert to be presented on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 7:30 pm in the Orange Town Hall.. I hope everyone can make it.

The band will introduce an original composition by Adam Bergeron, “An Afternoon at the Quabbin Reservoir” which was commissioned by the band. Bergeron was present at the first rehearsal of the piece last month. Conductor Stephanie Parker is pleased to be able to showcase the work of a local composer as the Orange Community Band continues the tradition of performing in the area. Bergeron himself performed with the band for several seasons, and occasionally will sit in for a rehearsal or performance.

Advertise and support the Orange Community Band
The band is currently soliciting advertising and patrons for the concert program and ad booklet. The Program, including advertisements, patron listings, and the summer schedule, will be available both at the Pops and at Summer Concerts.
Forms must be returned to Maureen Riendeau by April 10 for inclusion in the booklet.

Orange Community Band will start rehearsals on Sunday Feb 3 and go every other week (that is, alternating weeks), to prepare for the Spring Pops Concert. That gives us 7 rehearsals (plus a possible 'Dress' on Wed Apr 30). If we get snowed out, we have the option to use one of the alternate weeks if needed. Rehearsals will begin promptly at 1:00 on Sunday afternoons. We hope that everyone will be able to make the rehearsals.

Please note the change from Wednesday to Sunday for rehearsals, to accomodate scheduling problems for our conductor. We anticipate that summer rehearsals willl begin in early June, and will be on Wednesday evenings.

    No Rehearsal February 17
    Sundays:
    Mar 2, 16, 30
    April 13, 27
    (note Apr 23, Easter )

    Summer Concerts
Summer concerts will be Friday evenings, June 27, July 4, 11, 18, 25, and August 1. Summer rehearsals will begin Wednesday, June 11. Rehearsals schedule for the Pops has not been set at this time, but we hope to have details at the holiday concert rehearsal. Please mark your calendars now, but be aware of the possibility of change.

Thanks for your help this past season.

Please mark your calendars and watch for updates in the paper.

If you know of anyone who would be interested injoining us, please encourage them to attend the first rehearsal in the armory on June 6.
